Tracie Long Training: Strength in Movement

Tracie Long Training: Strength In Movement
Jen Carmen, 2006

Jen leads this 55 min strength & cardio routine in a brick set with an awesome view of the ocean through the windows. You will need a med ball and dumbbells for this workout. There are 2 background exercisers all performing a different level of intensity. The DVD includes a premix.

After a warm up using the ball, exercises include weighted balance stick & one legged squats w/ overhead press & tri work, bi curl balancing one leg, dip & row, balance glute raise & oblique ball pull, side lunges w/ wiper & diagonal raises, WV & reach down to squat, lunge series, shifting squat series, ball pendulum, tri push-ups, plank & kickbacks, ball cardio routines, side lunge w/ inner & outer thigh sweeps, floor core work, bridge series and a final stretch.

I rate this an intermediate routine following Jen. The pace is quick so I recommend using moderate weights. Jen uses lots of tempo variations to work your muscles in a different way. The TLT set focuses on purposeful movements so the more you focus on each exercise the better results you will get. Jen is a great lead & this dvd has a lot of fun routines. I did not receive this dvd to review.

Tandoor Chef Presents Indian Cuisine at Home!

We  are huge fans of  Indian food  but we dont have a restaurant really close by so when I was presented with the opportunity to review Tandoor Chef - I was super excited! When I actually tasted Tandoor Chef- I was  in love! No more driving across town for delicious Indian food- just grab one from my freezer and dinner is served. My husband loves Indian food- maybe even more than I do and he was super impressed by just how good the Chicken Tikka Masala was- he compared it to our favorite restaurant and said "save the drive across town, lets have this from now on." More than saving the drive, save money with Tandoor Chef compared to restaurant prices!

With a full line of nann breads, appetizers, entrees, vegan meals, and vegetarian options, Tandoor Chef brings something for everyone in the convenience of a yummy frozen meal. Perfect for office lunches or a casual weekend lunch with the family. I also love to serve these on rushed weekday nights for dinner. I like to serve them family style so everyone can pick from a few entrees. Here is my menu: One Paneer Tikka Masala - the Chicken Tandoori with Spinach (pictured below) is packed full of absolutely delicious Marinated and tandoori roasted chicken breast, and tons of spinach.

With that I serve a Chicken Biryani -full of spiced, boneless chicken prepared with Basmati rice and garnished with sautéed onions. Both contain plenty of veggies so you can feel good about eating a balanced meal. Of course I serve an order of Tandoor Chef Naan Bread, which is available in a TON of varieties including various pizzas -which are perfect for the kids or less adventurous eaters in your house. I love their Garlic Naan personally. I have actually tried many varieties of frozen or store bought naan bread and Tandoor Chef Naan is hands down- the best I have tried.

Our dinner starts with an appetizer as well, I love the Tandoor Chef Palak Paneer Samosa: Creamy, spiced spinach and paneer cheese cooked in traditional style; stuffed into crispy pockets. I found all my Tandoor Chef goods at my local Sprouts stores, find a Tandoor Chef distributor near you. They are also available at many Safeway, Kroger, AJ's, and Sunflower markets. Love that they offer plenty of vegetarian and vegan options as well.

Tracie leads this mostly cardio workout alone in a small mansion-esque set. You will need light dumbbells, a med ball, ankle weights, and a tall box for this workout. This 55 min DVD is fully chaptered. The DVD combines balance, fun ball work, floor & step cardio, light 4-limb work with a touch of stretching & yoga to create a super unique workout.

After a warmup & yoga inspired stretch, exercises include a fun ball toss routine, hops, pump & jump, 1 leg balance delts, dip & curl, knee pull jump turns, split jumps, frog jumps with your hands on the box, tall box climb, glute raises with your hands on the box, squat holds, step kick & punch, football shuffle, a tall box step routine, squat & bi curls, mambo-kick-ball change, balance ball hold , basketball shoot, lying leg shoots, bridge series using the med ball, pushups, swimmers, plank pikes, floor core and a final stretch.

I rate this an intermediate routine, the more you focus, the more you will feel the work. As with all of the FitPrime workouts this is a very unique blend of exercises that flow together wonderfully. Tracie is as always, an impeccable lead with superb instruction. This is really a must-have in any workout library. Love this one. I did not receive this dvd to review.

Acacia Presents Dr. Lisa: Yoga Blast

Dr. Lisa: Yoga Blast
Elise Joan, 2012

This DVD contains three 20 minute workouts. Elise & Dr. Lisa work out in a gorgeous outdoor setting. You wont need any equipment for these workouts. You can play all or select a workout from the menu.

Cardio: After a warm up exercises include strut up & back, side step, knee lifts, hip pop, booty shake, pliet side steps, a few vinyassa flows, squat - curtsy - knee up, mt. climbers, and a yoga cool down & stretch.

Strength: After a warm up exercises include chair pose, pliet hip shifts, standing leg raises & glute work, vinyassa, hip circles, warrior 1, warrior 2, warrior 3 adding glute work, plank hip drops, cat cow, chair prayer series, and a quick stretch.

Power Stretch: After a warm up exercises include sun salutation A, B, & C, hip openers, chair, pigeon, double pigeon, modified bicycle, V ups, single leg stretch and a seated stretch. This routine contains more yoga poses than the previous 2 routines.

I rate these low intermediate workouts. Dr. Lisa provides motivation and health tips while Elise instructs. Each workout contains a few yoga vinyassas interspersed in the routines giving them a unique feel, though containing less yoga than the title indicates. The variety on this dvd makes it a great addition to anyones exercise library. The cardio is a bit dancy but easy to follow and the strength & stretch routines are straight forward. Elise shows the exercise first at a slower pace and then picks up the tempo. I received this dvd to review.

Bolder Band: The Stay Put Workout Headband & COUPON CODE!

I am super excited to introduce to you Bolder Bands. The stay put, super cute headbands that come in a ton of beautiful and bold styles. Invented by a runner/ crossfit mother, and smart woman that needed a way to keep her hair out of her eyes and off her face while getting her sweat on: enter Bolder Band! Keep reading to learn more. Use code fitness4therest10 to get 10% off your entire Bolder Band order!

I love Bolder Bands obviously because they stay put and keep my hair out of my eyes and the sweat off my face! I also love them because they are wider than other bands on the market. I really like this because they absorb more sweat and they can hide my hair, lol. I have curly hair (as you can see below) and it doesnt lay smooth when I pull it back to exercise so the ability to cover more hair is a great option for me. And of course Bolder Bands are super cute and come in a ton of cute styles.

I like to coordinate my outfits, shoes, & Bolder Bands even though I usually work out at home. I love that Bolder Bands offer so many cute designs. Bolder Bands also come in multiple sizes so if you need a specialty size - they have it for you! You can also fold your Bolder Band in six different ways to create a wider or more narrow band. Customize your Bolder to fit your workout! So I didnt do the best job coordinating in the pic above but you get the jest...

They are even great for housework, gardening, and anyone with an active job! And the best part- they are cute & stylish making them perfect for everyday wear. The fabric is very absorbent so no matter how sweaty your workout is, Bolder Bands have you covered! They even have Bro Bands for the men in your life!

Acacia Presents: Ultimate Kettlebell Workout for Beginners

Paul Katami, 2012

This dvd contains these three 25 minute workouts: a tutorial, drills and combos, and a core workout. Paul leads with 2 background exercisers in a beautiful outdoor setting. You will need a kettlebell for these workouts.

Tutorial: Teaches proper form, safety tips, and all of the kettlebell exercises you need to know to do the next two segments.

Drills & Combos: after a warmup each exercise is performed for 30 seconds with little rest in between. Exercises include halo, halo & squat, squat, squat & upright row, swing, swing side step, single arm swing, clean to rack, clean to rack and overhead press, tri extension, progressive lunges, side lunge, side lunge & bi curl, dips, cooldown & stretch.

Core: after a warmup each exercise is performed for 30 seconds with little rest in between. Exercises include halo chops, torso twists, lunge twists, side bend, windmills, bell crunch variations, bell situps, V ups, sit up tuck & twists, a plank series with one hand on the bell, bench press & crunch, fly & crunch, and a stretch.

I rate these solid intermediate routines that are very straight forward and athletic in nature. I think the term beginner in the title is due to the fact that there is a 25 min tutorial included to get you safely started with kettlebells. You can adjust the intensity of the last two routines by adjusting the weight of your kettlebell. I used a dumbbell for these workouts and found it was easy to modify. I received this dvd to review.

REVIEW: TLT Better Burn Better Buns Featuring Tracie Long

Tracie Long Training Better Burn Better Buns
Tracie Long, 2006

Tracie leads this 55 min lower body focused cardio routine in a brick set with an awesome view of the ocean through the windows. You will gliding discs, a med ball, and an optional dowel for this workout. There are 2 background exercisers all performing a different level of intensity. The DVD includes a premix.

After a warm up, exercises include plank walks, lying low back work, ball squats & squat hops with core rotation, standing leg work using the discs, standing balance leg work, ball to elbow knee pulls, lunge & dips series using the ball, squat clean and press with the ball, fast feet agility drill, pendulum, ball skater and stir the pot, side step & shuffle, pushups, disc dip set, a floor core series using the ball, bridge hamstring pulls using the discs, side plank work, and a yoga-esque stretch.

I rate this an intermediate routine following Tracie, you can adjust your intensity by following a mod or using a heavier/ lighter med ball. I used an 8 # med ball and got a great sweaty workout. The TLT set focuses on purposeful movements so the more you focus on each exercise the better results you will get. This is a great unique workout that is fun & will work your buns in a new way and I love the included balance work. I did not receive this dvd to review.
